Social phobia, also known as social anxiety disorder, is a common mental condition primarily characterized by persistent and excessive fear, tension, and worry in social situations. Its symptoms can be broadly categorized into psychological and physical symptoms.

Psychological symptoms: Patients experience extreme discomfort when facing or even thinking about interpersonal interactions, fearing judgment, rejection, or embarrassment. This anxiety and nervousness often lead patients to avoid or flee from social situations. Even when remaining in social settings, patients may appear awkward or speak incoherently. Simple daily interactions, such as shopping or making phone calls, can also become extremely difficult.

Physical symptoms: Patients may exhibit reactions such as sweating, rapid heartbeat, blushing, stuttering, and shortness of breath, along with strong negative thought patterns. In severe cases, additional physical symptoms such as whole-body trembling, nausea, and vomiting may occur. These physiological responses often further intensify the patient's anxiety and discomfort.

If a patient displays the above symptoms, there is no need to panic excessively, as early diagnosis and treatment can effectively improve the patient's symptoms.
