Preoperative Examination Items

Before undergoing surgery, patients need to complete a series of examinations to ensure the safety and effectiveness of the procedure.

1. Electrocardiogram (ECG): To examine the heart's electrical activity and assess cardiac health.

2. Complete blood count (CBC): To determine whether the patient has anemia, reduced platelet count, or elevated white blood cell count. Patients with anemia require intermittent red blood cell transfusions to correct the condition before surgery can proceed.

3. Chest X-ray or CT scan: To examine the lungs and thoracic cavity and rule out respiratory diseases.

4. Abdominal ultrasound or CT scan: To assess the condition of abdominal organs depending on the surgical site.

5. Coagulation function tests: To evaluate whether there is a coagulation disorder and assess the risk of excessive bleeding by measuring prothrombin time, thrombin time, and fibrinogen levels in the blood.

6. Anesthesia evaluation: Conducted by an anesthesiologist to assess the patient's tolerance to anesthetic agents.

These examinations help doctors comprehensively understand the patient's physical condition and ensure the safe conduct of surgery.
