Waking up with numb fingers can be caused by several factors, mainly including the following:

1. Mechanical compression: Improper sleeping posture, such as lying on the hand or arm, can lead to localized circulatory problems, resulting in finger numbness. This condition usually doesn't last long and can be relieved by moving the fingers or arms.

2. Cervical spondylosis: Patients with cervical spondylosis, especially those with cervical disc herniation, are prone to nerve root compression. Inappropriate sleeping posture or unsuitable pillow height may worsen the compression, causing finger numbness.

3. Carpal tunnel syndrome: This is a nerve compression disorder. During sleep, blood vessels dilate, increasing wrist volume and relatively reducing available space, which can aggravate nerve compression and cause finger numbness.

4. Circulatory disorders: Individuals with conditions such as heart disease or hypertension may experience impaired peripheral circulation, leading to finger numbness.

5. Other factors: Anemia, peripheral neuritis, and similar conditions can also cause finger numbness.

If symptoms of finger numbness persist or worsen, prompt medical attention is advised.
