What causes pain in the back of the head?
After finishing class, the back of my head suddenly started hurting severely. Resting did not help. May I ask, what are the possible causes of pain in the back of the head?

Pain in the back of the head may be caused by various factors, mainly including the following:
1. Physiological causes: For example, excessive mental stress, prolonged tension or anxiety, lack of sleep, wearing a hat for an extended period or wearing a hat that is too tight causing localized pressure, and poor sleeping posture at night leading to a stiff neck may all cause pain in the back of the head. This type of pain is generally mild and can resolve on its own through rest, emotional adjustment, or improvement in sleeping posture.
2. Pathological causes:
Nervous system diseases: Such as migraines, trigeminal neuralgia, and occipital neuralgia. These conditions may be caused by nerve irritation or injury, resulting in pain in the back of the head.
Other diseases: Conditions such as hypertension, common cold, otitis media, and atherosclerosis may also cause pain in the back of the head. These diseases may lead to pain in the back of the head by affecting cerebral blood supply and oxygenation, causing nerve dysfunction or inflammation.
If pain in the back of the head persists, it is recommended to seek medical attention promptly.
