What are the symptoms of erosive gastritis?
Recently, my appetite has not been very good, and I have also been experiencing frequent nausea. After going to the hospital for an examination, I was diagnosed with erosive gastritis. What are the symptoms of erosive gastritis?
Erosive gastritis, also known as acute gastric mucosal lesion or stress ulcer, mainly presents with the following symptoms:
1. Upper abdominal pain: This is the most common symptom. The pain may be dull, burning, or sharp, and is usually located in the upper abdomen beneath the sternum.
2. Nausea and vomiting: Due to slowed gastric motility, food cannot be emptied in a timely manner, leading to gastric discomfort, often accompanied by nausea and vomiting.
3. Gastric discomfort: Including a feeling of heaviness in the stomach, belching, and acid reflux.
4. Bleeding: Severe cases may present with upper gastrointestinal bleeding, manifested as hematemesis (vomiting blood) or tarry stools. Significant bleeding can lead to fainting or shock.
5. Anemia: Long-term chronic blood loss can result in iron-deficiency anemia, presenting with symptoms such as fatigue and pallor.
6. Weight loss: Due to loss of appetite and impaired nutrient absorption, patients may experience weight loss.
If symptoms occur, prompt medical attention is recommended, along with dietary adjustments to avoid spicy and greasy foods, and ensuring adequate rest to promote gastric mucosal healing.
