What are the symptoms of esophagitis?
Recently, I have experienced difficulty swallowing and am wondering if I might have developed esophagitis. Could you please tell me what the symptoms of esophagitis are?

Esophagitis refers to the inflammation of the esophagus, and its main symptoms include:
1. Difficulty swallowing: Patients experience trouble when eating, feeling that food does not pass smoothly; in severe cases, they may be unable to swallow solid foods and can only consume liquids or semi-liquid diets.
2. Retrosternal pain: Symptoms similar to angina pectoris, often misdiagnosed as a cardiac issue. This pain may worsen after eating, especially when the food is either hot or cold.
3. Acid reflux: Patients frequently feel stomach contents rising up into the throat, accompanied by a burning sensation, particularly occurring at night or when bending forward.
4. Throat discomfort: Long-term acid irritation may lead to throat discomfort, including hoarseness and coughing.
5. Weight loss: Due to reduced food intake caused by difficulty swallowing and pain, patients may experience weight loss.
6. Belching and nausea: Patients may frequently experience belching and feel nauseated, although vomiting does not necessarily occur.
Patients experiencing the above symptoms are advised to seek medical attention promptly.
