Disease description:

Two days ago during a hospital check-up, they told me I have polyps in my intestines, but I haven't felt anything unusual in my daily life. I'd like to ask, what are the symptoms of having intestinal polyps?

Intestinal polyps, especially colorectal polyps, may not cause obvious symptoms in the early stages. As the size or number of polyps increases, the following symptoms may occur:

1. Rectal bleeding: This is one of the prominent symptoms of intestinal polyps, often presenting as intermittent rectal bleeding or blood mixed with stool, and the blood may appear bright red.

2. Abdominal pain: If the polyp is large or causes partial intestinal obstruction, patients may experience abdominal discomfort or pain.

3. Changes in bowel habits: Altered bowel habits may manifest as changes in frequency and timing of bowel movements, sometimes alternating between constipation and diarrhea.

4. Tenesmus: A sensation of incomplete evacuation, often requiring multiple attempts to empty the bowels.

5. Anemia: Long-term chronic blood loss may lead to anemia, which can cause symptoms such as fatigue, weakness, and pallor.

6. Weight loss: Unexplained weight loss may be a symptom of gastrointestinal tract problems.

It should be noted that these symptoms are not specific to intestinal polyps. Therefore, if these symptoms occur, timely medical attention is necessary.
