Why is there only passing gas and no bowel movement?
I've been feeling a bit constipated these past two days, without the urge to defecate, but I've been passing gas frequently. My stomach also feels somewhat uncomfortable. I'd like to know what might be causing this situation.
Not having bowel movements while only passing gas can be a digestive system symptom caused by various factors, commonly seen in the following situations:
1. Indigestion: A lack of dietary fiber intake, insufficient water consumption, or irregular lifestyle habits may slow intestinal peristalsis, causing stool to remain in the intestines for too long and excessive absorption of water, leading to constipation.
2. Imbalance of intestinal flora: An imbalance between beneficial and harmful bacteria in the gut may lead to excessive growth of gas-producing bacteria, generating large amounts of gas and affecting normal intestinal motility, causing the phenomenon of not having bowel movements while only passing gas.
3. Constipation: Poor bowel habits and irregular eating patterns may lead to constipation, causing stool to accumulate in the intestines and become difficult to expel. These stools are decomposed and fermented by bacteria in the intestines, producing large amounts of gas, resulting in increased flatulence and difficulty in defecation.
4. Neurological diseases: Such as Parkinson's disease and spinal cord injuries. In these cases, although gas within the intestines can be expelled normally, the movement of solid materials is hindered, leading to constipation.
If symptoms persist or are accompanied by other symptoms, it is recommended to seek medical attention promptly.
