Treatment Methods for Gastric Ptosis
Recently, I have been experiencing frequent stomach pain and nausea, and the doctor mentioned that it is due to a condition called ptosis of the stomach. I would like to ask, what are the treatment options for ptosis of the stomach?

Gastroptosis is a relatively common digestive system disorder, primarily characterized by the stomach's position being lower than the normal range. Common symptoms include upper abdominal discomfort, bloating, nausea, and similar conditions. The main treatments for gastroptosis are as follows:
1. Non-surgical treatment: This mainly includes dietary adjustments and changes in lifestyle. Patients are advised to eat smaller, more frequent meals, avoid overeating and excessive consumption, and reduce pressure on the stomach. Additionally, maintaining an appropriate body weight, avoiding prolonged standing or bending, and strengthening abdominal muscle exercises are recommended to increase intra-abdominal pressure and support the stomach.
2. Medication therapy: When non-surgical treatments are ineffective, medication therapy may be used as an adjunct. Commonly used medications include prokinetic agents, such as domperidone, and antacids, which help alleviate discomfort caused by excessive stomach acid.
3. Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) treatment: Gastroptosis is associated with weakness of the spleen and stomach in TCM theory. Treatment may involve using herbal remedies to regulate spleen and stomach function, such as Bu Zhong Yi Qi Tang (a classical herbal formula), along with physical therapies like acupuncture and cupping to improve gastric blood circulation and promote recovery of gastric muscle tone.
Treatment for gastroptosis should be conducted under the guidance of a physician. Patients must follow medical advice and actively cooperate with treatment.
