Disease description:

I always experience severe abdominal pain during my menstrual period. I visited a traditional Chinese medicine hospital, and the physician diagnosed me with abdominal pain caused by "gong han" (uterine cold). I would like to ask, what are the causes of "gong han"?

Main Causes of Uterine Coldness:

1. Constitutional factors: Some women are born with a weak constitution and insufficient yang energy, especially kidney yang deficiency, which can easily lead to uterine coldness. This may be related to genetic factors, such as parents with cold constitutions or advanced maternal age at birth.

2. Lifestyle habits: Unhealthy lifestyle habits are also significant causes of uterine coldness. For example, living for prolonged periods in damp, cold environments or frequently being exposed to excessively cold air conditioning can allow cold pathogens to invade the body and affect the uterus.

3. Dietary factors: Irregular eating habits, such as excessive consumption of cold beverages, iced tea, and raw fruits during summer, can damage the body's yang energy, resulting in uterine coldness. Additionally, extreme dieting for weight loss leading to nutritional imbalances may also trigger uterine coldness.

4. Emotional factors: Prolonged emotional distress and liver qi stagnation can impair the spleen's transformation and transportation functions, leading to internal disturbance by phlegm-dampness and subsequently causing uterine coldness.
