Vitreous opacity, also known as vitreous haze or floaters, is mainly characterized by floating black spots or filamentous objects in front of the eyes. It can be categorized into physiological and pathological types. Physiological vitreous opacity generally does not require special treatment and may resolve spontaneously.

For pathological vitreous opacity, there are mainly two treatment approaches: medication and surgery. Medications often include iodine preparations, such as lecithin iodine tablets and aminoiodotyrosine eye drops. These medications can promote microvascular dilation and circulation within the eye, improve ocular metabolism, and aid in the absorption of lesions and exudates. Most patients experience significant improvement after following a regular medication regimen. If medication proves ineffective or if the condition is severe—for example, if retinal detachment or significant visual impairment occurs—surgical treatment may be considered. Procedures such as vitrectomy or laser ablation can effectively alleviate symptoms and achieve a cure.

After treatment, it is important to maintain good eye hygiene, avoid strenuous physical activity, and attend regular follow-up examinations to prevent complications.

Once symptoms of vitreous opacity appear, prompt medical consultation is necessary to establish a treatment plan and strictly follow medical instructions for therapy.
