Helicobacter pylori positive, what should I do?
I have found out through a physical examination that I am positive for Helicobacter pylori. I currently have no obvious discomfort, but I would like to know what measures I should take in response?

Helicobacter pylori positivity indicates an infection with Helicobacter pylori in the stomach. This bacterium is closely associated with various gastric diseases, such as chronic gastritis, gastric ulcers, and even gastric cancer. It can spread orally and colonize the gastric mucosa, releasing toxins that damage the mucosal barrier and trigger inflammatory responses. Although some patients may not exhibit obvious symptoms, the risk of long-term complications is significant.
Common treatment regimens involve the combined use of proton pump inhibitors, bismuth-containing agents, and antibiotics. During treatment, it is essential to strictly follow medical instructions regarding dosage and timing to avoid missed or incorrect doses, ensuring effective therapy. After treatment, a follow-up carbon-13 or carbon-14 breath test is necessary to confirm successful eradication of Helicobacter pylori.
Maintaining good dietary hygiene is important. It is recommended to eat separately and avoid sharing eating utensils, cups, or other items to prevent reinfection.
