I would like to ask about the correct method for using a nasal irrigator to clean the nasal cavity, especially the precautions when using it on children, and whether it's necessary to add normal saline for irrigation.

Nasal irrigators can clean the nasal cavity and are helpful for conditions such as allergic rhinitis, sinusitis, or excessive nasal discharge after a cold.

For adult use, first dissolve about 1/4 teaspoon of salt in 250 ml of warm water according to the instructions to make a saline solution close to body temperature, or purchase pre-made saline solution. Stand or sit with your body leaning forward slightly and your head slightly lowered. Insert the nozzle or nasal plug, then squeeze the bottle or activate the electric pump. When squeezing manually, apply moderate pressure. Allow the nasal irrigation solution to remain in the nasal cavity for a few seconds, then gently blow the nose or let it drain out through the other side. Perform the procedure once or twice daily, each time lasting 5-10 minutes. After use, wash the device thoroughly, allow it to air dry, and store it properly.

When using on children, select a nasal irrigator suitable for children's size with a tip appropriately sized for the child's nostrils. Calm the child before use to reduce fear. Young children should be supervised by an adult. Apply gentle pressure during irrigation and start initially with only one nostril if it is the first time. The irrigation solution should be at a suitable temperature. Do not add medications or prepare high-concentration solutions on your own. Before starting, do a test rinse and remind the child not to swallow the solution. Parents should perform the procedure gently. After irrigation, remove any residual solution, tighten the cap, and replace with fresh saline solution in a timely manner.

Regardless of whether the user is an adult or child, follow the product instructions and consider personal circumstances and medical advice to determine the appropriate frequency and method of use. Seek medical attention promptly if any discomfort or questions arise.
