What to eat for poor sleep
Recently, my sleep quality has been particularly poor. May I ask what one should eat for insomnia?
Improving sleep quality does not solely rely on dietary adjustments, but appropriate nutrition can assist in enhancing sleep to some extent. For individuals experiencing poor sleep, the following dietary principles are recommended:
1. Milk: Milk contains tryptophan, an amino acid that has a calming and soothing effect. Drinking a cup of warm milk before bedtime helps promote sleep.
2. Honey: Rich in various nutrients such as vitamins, organic acids, calcium, and magnesium, honey helps regulate the nervous system. Drinking a cup of honey water in the evening helps relieve tension and promote sleep.
3. Avoid stimulant beverages: Caffeine-containing drinks such as coffee, tea (especially green tea), and cola should be avoided later in the afternoon, as caffeine can inhibit sleep and prolong sleep onset.
4. Limit alcohol consumption: Although small amounts of alcohol may help induce sleep initially, it negatively affects sleep depth and continuity and is detrimental to long-term sleep health.
If suffering from severe sleep disorders, timely medical consultation is advised.
