There is a scar on the yellow part of the eye, in both eyes.
Recently, I noticed some markings on the yellow part (sclera) of my eyes. The color appears slightly darker yellow, and both eyes show similar symptoms, which has caused me great concern. I wonder if this might be related to liver health.
The yellowing of the white part of the eye, known as scleral icterus, is a typical symptom of jaundice. Jaundice is usually caused by elevated levels of bilirubin in the blood. Bilirubin is a yellow pigment produced by the liver and is normally processed and excreted by the liver. However, when liver function is impaired or there is a problem with the biliary system, bilirubin accumulates in the body, leading to yellowing of the skin and whites of the eyes.
Patients are advised to seek timely medical attention and undergo detailed fundus examinations to determine the specific cause and extent of the discoloration. Treatment will depend on the underlying cause and severity of the condition and may include medication, photodynamic therapy, laser treatment, or surgical intervention. In addition, patients should take care to protect their eyes, avoid prolonged exposure to bright light and ultraviolet radiation, and maintain a healthy diet and lifestyle to support ocular health.
