Winter dry skin is a common dermatological issue, especially prevalent in regions with cold climates and low humidity. Dry skin can also cause itching, and excessive scratching may lead to skin damage, resulting in cracking and pain. For some individuals, this dryness may not merely be seasonal but could be caused by skin conditions such as eczema, psoriasis, or ichthyosis, which tend to worsen during winter.

After bathing or cleansing the skin, promptly apply a mild, non-irritating moisturizer or lotion to lock in moisture and prevent dryness. Products containing natural hydrating ingredients such as glycerin or hyaluronic acid are recommended.

Avoid frequent bathing, excessively hot water, and strongly alkaline cleansers, as these can further damage the skin barrier and exacerbate dryness. Additionally, use a humidifier to increase indoor humidity, especially in heated environments.

Increase consumption of fresh vegetables and fruits to obtain essential nutrients such as vitamin C and vitamin A, which aid in skin repair and metabolism. If symptoms persist or worsen despite these measures, prompt medical consultation is advised.
