Can I drink champagne while taking traditional Chinese medicine?
Recently, due to physical discomfort, I have been taking traditional Chinese medicine for regulation. I would like to know whether I can consume champagne in moderation while undergoing TCM treatment.

During the period of taking traditional Chinese medicine (TCM), patients are advised not to drink champagne.
The alcohol content in champagne may chemically react with certain active substances in TCM, leading to reduced efficacy or adverse reactions. In addition, other components in champagne may also interfere with the normal effects of TCM, thus affecting the treatment outcome. At the same time, spicy, raw, cold, greasy, and other irritating foods, as well as strong tea and other beverages that may affect the efficacy of the medicine, should also be avoided during medication.
Before consuming any alcoholic beverages, consult the doctor or TCM practitioner who prescribed the herbal medicine. They can provide advice based on the specific type of TCM you are taking and your individual health condition.
