Main symptoms of gastric ulcers:

1. Upper abdominal pain: The most typical symptom of gastric ulcers is upper abdominal pain, which may present as dull, aching, distending, or severe pain. The pain often has a rhythmic pattern, typically occurring half an hour to one hour after a meal, lasting for a period of time before gradually subsiding, and then recurring after the next meal. The pain is commonly located in the mid-upper abdomen or slightly to the left or right.

2. Gastrointestinal symptoms: Patients with gastric ulcers may also experience a series of gastrointestinal symptoms, such as decreased appetite, a feeling of fullness in the stomach, early satiety, acid regurgitation, heartburn, belching, nausea, and vomiting. These symptoms may be related to gastric mucosal damage caused by gastric ulcers, abnormal gastric acid secretion, and reduced gastric motility.

3. Perforation or obstruction in severe cases: As ulcers progress, they may penetrate the stomach wall causing perforation, or lead to gastric outlet obstruction due to scar tissue formation; both are conditions requiring urgent medical attention.

Patients are advised to seek timely medical care when experiencing the above symptoms.
