Disease description:

Recently, during a routine nasal CT scan, I was found to have mild inflammation in the bilateral maxillary and ethmoid sinuses, as well as a submucosal cyst observed in the right region of the sphenoid sinus. Currently, there are no significant symptoms such as nasal congestion, runny nose, or headache, although I occasionally experience mild head discomfort when changing body positions.

Sinusitis refers to acute or chronic inflammation of the mucous membranes of the nasal cavity and paranasal sinuses. Common symptoms include nasal congestion, runny nose, facial pain or pressure, and reduced sense of smell. Mild inflammation of the bilateral maxillary and ethmoid sinuses found in CT scans may indicate mild sinusitis. In addition, a submucosal cyst in the right sphenoid sinus is usually formed by the accumulation of secretions from the sinus mucosa. Most such cysts are benign, but if they grow larger, they may cause local pressure symptoms.

It is recommended to follow medical advice regarding the use of antibiotics to control infection, along with nasal corticosteroids to reduce inflammation and swelling. Nasal irrigation is also an effective method for symptom relief, helping to clear secretions from the nasal cavity and sinuses. If the cyst enlarges or causes local pressure symptoms such as headache or eye protrusion, timely surgical treatment is recommended to remove the cyst and restore normal sinus function.
