Food Allergy Symptoms
I don't know what I ate yesterday that caused me to have diarrhea ever since. My friend said this might be food poisoning, and I want to know what symptoms are associated with food allergies.
Food allergy is a disease in which the immune system overreacts to specific food components. Common symptoms include, but are not limited to, the following:
1. Gastrointestinal symptoms: including nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, bloating, and diarrhea, sometimes with mucus-like or watery stools.
2. Skin symptoms: often表现为 skin itching, redness, rash, or hives, which commonly occur on the face, neck, and ears.
3. Respiratory symptoms: such as sneezing, runny nose, nasal congestion, tearing, coughing, or asthma, which may be related to respiratory discomfort.
4. Cardiovascular symptoms: in severe cases, symptoms such as low blood pressure, rapid heartbeat, or shock (i.e., anaphylactic shock) may occur, which is an emergency requiring immediate medical intervention.
5. Other symptoms: headache, fainting, anxiety, and other symptoms may also appear.
If you suspect yourself or someone else is experiencing a food allergic reaction, especially if symptoms worsen rapidly, seek immediate professional medical assistance. Accurate diagnosis and timely treatment are crucial to avoid potential severe consequences.
