How to remove melasma
I have many chloasma spots on my face, and I don't know how to remove them. How can chloasma be removed?
The treatment of melasma requires a comprehensive consideration of the patient's specific condition. The following are some commonly used treatment methods:
1. Sun protection: Melasma formation is closely related to ultraviolet radiation; therefore, sun protection is the primary measure for preventing and treating melasma. Patients are advised to use sunscreen throughout the year and choose products with high SPF values and broad-spectrum protection to effectively block UVA and UVB rays.
2. Topical medications: Commonly used drugs include hydroquinone, kojic acid, arbutin, retinoic acid and its derivatives. These medications can inhibit melanin production and promote melanin metabolism, thereby reducing pigmentation. They should be used according to medical instructions to avoid excessive application that may cause skin irritation or inflammation.
3. Laser and photorejuvenation treatments: Specific wavelength lasers or intense pulsed light are used to target the skin, breaking down melanin particles and accelerating their metabolism and elimination, thus lightening the pigmentation.
4. Chemical peeling: A solution containing a certain concentration of acid is applied to the skin surface to promote exfoliation of the epidermal cells, encourage new skin regeneration, and improve pigmentation.
5. Lifestyle adjustments: Adequate sleep, avoiding staying up late, maintaining a positive mindset, and consuming more foods rich in vitamin C and vitamin E can also help in reducing melasma.
Removing melasma requires a combination of multiple approaches and should be conducted under the guidance of a physician.
