Anal fissure is a common anorectal disease, usually occurring in the lower segment of the anal canal, characterized by severe pain during defecation and persistent pain for a period of time afterward, sometimes accompanied by a small amount of bright red blood.

The causes of anal fissures are varied and include the following:

1. Improper posture: Prolonged sitting can affect local blood circulation and increase the risk of anal fissures. In addition, bad habits such as prolonged squatting and extended time on defecation can also easily induce anal fissures.

2. Constipation is one of the most common causes of anal fissures, as hard stools passing through the anus may tear the anal mucosa and skin, leading to anal fissures.

3. Infection: Acute and chronic anal sinusitis, anal papillitis, internal hemorrhoids, and polyps may cause infection. Pathogenic bacteria enter the subcutaneous tissue of the anal canal through the anal gland orifice, forming an abscess. Once the abscess ruptures, it may lead to anal ulceration and subsequently cause an anal fissure.

If anal fissures occur, patients should seek medical attention promptly.
