What are the causes of anal fissures?
Recently, I have noticed significant pain during bowel movements, and sometimes there has been blood present. I suspect I may have developed an anal fissure. I would like to know what causes anal fissures?

Anal fissure is a common anorectal disease, mainly characterized by severe pain in the anal area and bleeding during defecation. The main causes include the following aspects:
1. Long-term constipation is one of the primary causes of anal fissures. Passing hard stools through the anus may tear the anal skin and mucosa, resulting in a fissure.
2. Frequent diarrhea can also cause local irritation and injury to the anus, leading to anal hypersensitivity and contraction. Even stools of normal consistency may cause injury, increasing the likelihood of developing an anal fissure.
3. Some infections in the anus or rectum may also trigger anal fissures.
4. Treatment measures: Patients are advised to increase dietary fiber intake, drink more water, and avoid constipation and prolonged diarrhea. At the same time, maintaining good personal hygiene, avoiding prolonged sitting, and engaging in regular moderate exercise can help prevent the occurrence of anal fissures.
