An anal fissure refers to a tear in the skin and mucous membrane of the anal area, commonly seen in patients with constipation. Dry stools repeatedly irritate the fissure, making it difficult to heal. Therefore, softening the stool is one of the important methods for treating anal fissures.

To soften the stool, it is recommended to consume more fiber-rich foods such as vegetables, fruits, and whole grains, while avoiding excessive intake of high-fat and high-sugar foods, which can contribute to constipation. It is also important to maintain adequate hydration by drinking at least eight glasses of water daily. Under a doctor's guidance, medications such as lactulose or herbal pills (e.g., Ma Ren Wan) may be used—these help soften the stool, reduce anal trauma, and promote healing of the fissure. If symptoms of anal fissure persist without improvement, prompt medical attention is advised.
