An anal fissure is a common anorectal disease, primarily characterized by severe pain in the anal area and bleeding during bowel movements. The pain associated with anal fissures typically exhibits features such as periodicity, intensity, persistence, and exacerbation after defecation.

Pain often occurs during bowel movements, especially when hard stools pass through the anus, at which time the pain can be particularly severe, sometimes feeling like a cut or tear. Minutes after defecation, the pain may temporarily subside, but subsequently, due to spasm of the internal anal sphincter, severe pain recurs, lasting from several minutes to hours. The pain does not persist continuously but is associated with bowel movements, intensifying after defecation and then gradually subsiding. If patients suspect they have an anal fissure, it is recommended they seek medical attention promptly.
