Will fat grafting be completely absorbed?

Disease description:

I am not entirely satisfied with my facial contours and hope to address issues of facial hollowing and fine lines. After consultation, I have decided to try autologous fat grafting to enhance facial fullness. However, I am concerned that the grafted fat might be completely absorbed by the body, leading to suboptimal results.

After fat grafting surgery, not all of the transplanted fat is absorbed. Since autologous fat grafting uses the patient's own fat tissue, it has good biocompatibility and generally is not recognized by the body's immune system as a foreign substance to attack and eliminate.

During the fat grafting process, approximately 30%-70% of the fat cells can survive in the new location, while the rest may be absorbed by the body. If a large portion of the fat is absorbed postoperatively and the patient wishes to maintain a better outcome, a second or third fat injection can be considered. Additionally, postoperative care is also very important. Avoiding strenuous activity, maintaining adequate rest, and following the doctor's recommendations can all help improve fat cell survival rates.
