Can I smile within one month after facial fat grafting?
I had facial fat grafting surgery a month ago, and I have some questions regarding the post-operative recovery period. I would like to know whether I can smile normally within one month after the procedure, and if doing so might affect the surgical outcome.
Facial fat grafting is a common cosmetic procedure that involves harvesting fat from other parts of the body, processing it, and then injecting it into sunken areas of the face to improve facial contours. Smiling is generally possible within one month, although it should be more than two weeks before doing so.
After undergoing facial fat grafting, during the postoperative recovery period, swelling, bruising, and mild pain may occur. These symptoms typically subside gradually within one to two weeks. Facial expression activities such as smiling, talking, or making facial expressions generally do not significantly affect the surgical outcome. However, excessive facial movements may cause discomfort initially. In the early postoperative phase, excessive facial expressions, especially laughing loudly, may increase the risk of fat displacement or uneven absorption, which could affect the surgical results. One month after facial fat grafting, normal facial expressions, including smiling and laughing, can be gradually resumed.
Postoperative care should include proper wound care, keeping the grafted area clean and dry to avoid moisture and prevent infection. Additionally, actions that may cause fat displacement, such as applying pressure or vigorously touching the grafted area, should be avoided.
