The choice of double eyelid surgery method mainly depends on the patient's eye conditions and personal preferences. Both incisional and suture techniques are commonly used methods for creating double eyelids, each with its own advantages and disadvantages.

The incisional method involves removing a certain amount of upper eyelid skin, fat, and muscle tissue to create a stable double eyelid fold. The results are long-lasting and natural-looking. This technique is suitable for patients with loose eyelid skin or fat accumulation, effectively improving the eye contour. However, incisional surgery involves greater trauma, requires a longer recovery period, and may leave postoperative scars.

In contrast, the suture method is relatively simple, less invasive, and allows for quicker recovery. It creates adhesion between the eyelid skin and the tarsal plate or levator aponeurosis by embedding sutures in the upper eyelid. This method is suitable for patients with thin eyelid skin and no laxity. The results of suture double eyelid surgery are relatively less stable; the height and width of the eyelid crease may change with skin laxity over time, and the effect is generally temporary, lasting about 2 to 5 years.

It is recommended that patients fully understand the surgical procedure, associated risks, and postoperative care before surgery and be well prepared psychologically. After surgery, patients should strictly follow medical instructions for postoperative care, avoid pressure or friction on the eyes, attend follow-up appointments regularly, and ensure optimal surgical outcomes and safety.
