What to do if the face swells after hyaluronic acid injection
Recently, I tried a hyaluronic acid injection treatment, hoping to improve my skin quality. However, after receiving the injections, my face became noticeably swollen, causing me great concern and discomfort. I would like to know what measures I should take to alleviate this situation?
If facial swelling occurs after a hyaluronic acid injection, immediately stop any activities that may irritate the skin, such as applying cosmetics or exposure to strong sunlight. You may take measures such as cold compresses, medication, maintaining wound cleanliness, and dietary adjustments to alleviate facial swelling.
1. Cold compress: Apply an ice pack or cold compress to the swollen area for 15–20 minutes at a time, multiple times daily, to help reduce inflammation and swelling.
2. Medication: If the swelling is caused by inflammatory infection or an allergic reaction, take anti-inflammatory or antiallergic medications under a doctor's guidance. For example, anti-inflammatory medications such as Amoxicillin Capsules and Cefixime Capsules, and antihistamines such as Diphenhydramine Hydrochloride Tablets and Chlorpheniramine Maleate Tablets.
3. Maintain wound cleanliness: Keep the injection site dry and clean to avoid worsening infection. For a period after the injection, avoid applying cosmetics and contact with water to reduce the risk of infection.
4. Dietary adjustments: Maintain a light diet and avoid consuming spicy or irritating foods to prevent additional stress on the skin. Additionally, eat more vegetables and fruits to aid in skin repair.
