The recovery period after double eyelid surgery varies depending on the surgical method and individual physical condition. Generally, the recovery from suture double eyelid surgery is relatively fast, with the eyes typically returning to a natural appearance within one month. In contrast, the recovery period for incisional double eyelid surgery is longer. The shape of the double eyelids usually becomes more natural gradually within 1 to 3 months post-surgery, but it may take 3 to 6 months for a full and stable recovery.

Suture double eyelid surgery involves minimal trauma, as it creates the double eyelid fold by attaching the tarsal plate to the skin using sutures, resulting in a quicker recovery. Incisional double eyelid surgery, however, requires the removal of some eye tissue and involves larger incisions, necessitating a longer healing and recovery period. Additionally, individual physical condition plays an important role—people with faster metabolism, better overall health, and stronger self-repair capabilities tend to recover more quickly, whereas those with slower metabolism, a tendency toward swelling, or a scar-prone constitution may experience a slower recovery.

During the recovery period after double eyelid surgery, patients should keep the incision area clean and dry to avoid infection. If abnormal symptoms occur, such as persistent fever, severe pain, or signs of infection, prompt medical attention is advised.
