Anal fissure is a relatively common anorectal disease, usually caused by hard or large stools leading to excessive tension of the anal sphincter. The main symptoms of anal fissures include pain, rectal bleeding, and constipation, which may be accompanied by anal moisture, itching, and systemic symptoms such as fever and swelling. Long-standing anal fissures may lead to complications such as sentinel piles or perianal abscesses.

For the treatment of anal fissures, patients are advised to seek timely medical attention for prevention and management of the underlying causes. At the same time, increasing dietary fiber intake in daily life to keep stools soft and prevent constipation is recommended. Sitz baths and stool softening methods can also be used for treatment, such as warm water sitz baths with potassium permanganate to promote healing of the anal fissure.
