Is teeth cleaning harmful to teeth?
I want to have my teeth cleaned because they seem unhealthy, but I don't know whether teeth cleaning will cause any harm to my teeth.

In a legitimate medical setting, operated by professional dentists or dental hygienists, teeth cleaning (scaling) does not harm the teeth but rather plays an important role in maintaining oral health. Scaling effectively removes plaque, tartar, and pigment deposits from the tooth surfaces and between the teeth. Long-term accumulation of these substances can irritate the gums, causing diseases such as gingivitis and periodontitis, which may lead to tooth loosening or even tooth loss. Regular teeth cleaning helps eliminate these harmful substances and reduce the occurrence of oral diseases.
However, improper or overly frequent scaling may cause some damage to the teeth. For example, if the instruments used during scaling are too coarse or excessive force is applied, the enamel on the tooth surface may be damaged, leading to tooth sensitivity or soreness. Additionally, failure to properly disinfect during the scaling process may result in cross-infection, posing a threat to oral health. Therefore, it is important to choose a legitimate medical facility for teeth cleaning.
