Disease description:

In order to improve my jawline contour, I chose to receive hyaluronic acid filler injections. After the procedure, I noticed that the jaw area had become abnormally firm, which caused me some concern and discomfort. I would like to know how long it typically takes for the jaw to return to a naturally soft state after hyaluronic acid injection.

Generally speaking, it takes about one week for the jaw area to fully soften after hyaluronic acid injection, although the exact time may vary depending on individual physical conditions and recovery status.

It is normal for the treated area to feel firm following hyaluronic acid injection. The newly injected filler has not yet fully integrated with the surrounding tissues, and post-operative swelling may cause the skin surface to feel relatively firm. Under normal circumstances, the firmness after hyaluronic acid injection will gradually subside within one to two weeks. As the swelling subsides and the filler is gradually absorbed by the body, the jaw will become increasingly natural and soft. However, recovery time varies among individuals; some may notice significant improvement within about a week, while others may require a longer period.

To promote recovery, it is recommended to take oral anti-inflammatory medication as directed by your physician to prevent infection, and to avoid strenuous activities and trauma after the procedure. Additionally, the injection site should not be frequently manipulated within one week postoperatively to prevent rupture of small blood vessels and bleeding. A light diet is advised, avoiding spicy or irritating foods. If swelling gradually worsens around three days after injection without any relief, you should return to the hospital for a follow-up examination promptly to prevent infection or other complications.
