Uterine prolapse is a form of pelvic organ prolapse in women, mainly manifested as a sensation of downward pressure, a foreign body feeling in the vagina, pain in the lower back or abdomen, abnormal secretions, and abnormal bowel movements.

Patients often feel a sensation of something dropping in the lower abdomen or vagina, especially noticeable after prolonged standing or physical exertion. Some patients can feel protruding tissue inside the vagina; in severe cases, the cervix or part of the uterine body can be seen protruding outside the vaginal opening. After uterine prolapse, the ligaments supporting the uterus become loose, causing displacement of the uterus, which may lead to pain in the lower back and abdomen. This pain may worsen with prolonged standing, walking, or physical activity, and may ease with rest.

Uterine prolapse may cause prolonged exposure of the cervix, leading to thickening or keratinization of the mucosal surface, and even erosion and ulcers, resulting in increased vaginal discharge, which may sometimes be purulent or blood-tinged. Uterine prolapse may be accompanied by bladder or rectal prolapse, causing symptoms such as frequent urination, urgency, urinary retention, urinary incontinence, constipation, or difficulty defecating.

It should be noted that not all patients will experience all the above symptoms, and the specific manifestations may vary from person to person.
