I was recently diagnosed with gastritis. There are still some mooncakes and biscuits at home, and I am quite concerned that eating them might worsen my condition. Therefore, I have been hesitant to eat anything. May I ask, if I have gastritis, can I still eat mooncakes and biscuits?

Gastritis refers to an inflammatory condition of the gastric mucosa. Common symptoms include discomfort and pain in the upper abdomen, nausea, and vomiting. Patients can usually consume mooncakes and biscuits in moderation without significantly affecting their condition.

Mooncakes typically contain high levels of sugar and fat, and certain fillings may be sticky and difficult to digest. For patients with gastritis, if the condition is stable and no significant discomfort is present, moderate consumption of mooncakes generally does not cause major health issues. However, patients should chew mooncakes thoroughly and eat slowly to avoid irritating the gastric mucosa. Patients may also choose soft-textured, easily digestible biscuits, such as soda crackers. These biscuits often contain alkaline substances that can neutralize stomach acid and provide some benefit for patients with gastritis. However, excessive consumption of either mooncakes or biscuits should be avoided to prevent irritation of the gastric mucosa or placing additional burden on the gastrointestinal tract.

Patients with gastritis should maintain healthy lifestyle and dietary habits, avoiding excessive intake of spicy, greasy, raw, cold, or other irritating foods to reduce gastrointestinal stress and promote recovery.
