Gastric erosion is a common gastric disease, mainly manifested as inflammation and damage to the gastric mucosa. Patients with gastric erosion can usually eat durian, but they must strictly control the amount consumed.

Durian, as a tropical fruit, contains abundant proteins, vitamins, and dietary fiber, among other nutrients. For patients with gastric erosion, moderate consumption of durian can help replenish essential nutrients and aid in recovery. However, excessive consumption may increase the gastrointestinal burden, leading to symptoms such as abdominal pain and diarrhea, which are detrimental to the recovery from gastric erosion. Moreover, the high sugar content in durian may stimulate gastric acid secretion when consumed in large quantities, increasing the burden on the gastric mucosa and hindering recovery from gastric erosion. Therefore, patients should consume durian in moderation and avoid excessive intake.

Because gastric acid secretion is higher on an empty stomach, eating durian may irritate the gastric mucosa; thus, it should be consumed after meals. In their daily diet, patients with gastric erosion should also avoid spicy, stimulating, greasy, and high-fat foods to prevent increasing the burden on the stomach and delaying recovery from the condition.
