What are the complications of rhinoplasty?
I am 30 years old this year. In order to improve the shape of my nose, six months ago I chose a reputable cosmetic surgery hospital to undergo a rhinoplasty procedure. As time has passed, I have noticed an abnormal hard lump on the bridge of my nose, and there is significant pain upon touch. I would like to understand what potential complications or side effects can occur after rhinoplasty.

Rhinoplasty, as a common facial plastic surgery procedure, generally carries potential complications. These complications may vary depending on surgical techniques, postoperative care, individual differences, and other factors. Common complications following rhinoplasty include infection, foreign body reaction, implant displacement, and unsatisfactory nasal appearance. Infection may result from inadequate sterilization during surgery or improper postoperative care; foreign body reactions mainly occur when prosthetic materials such as silicone are used; implant displacement can be caused by improper surgical technique or trauma to the nose after surgery; and unsatisfactory nasal appearance may result from the surgeon's aesthetic judgment or technical errors, leading to problems such as a crooked nasal bridge or asymmetry on both sides.
For existing complications, patients should first seek timely medical attention for diagnosis and treatment by qualified physicians. Infections can be treated with antibiotics, while foreign body reactions and implant displacement may require removal of the implant or revision surgery. Meanwhile, during the postoperative recovery period, patients should follow the surgeon's instructions, avoid strenuous activities and lifting heavy objects, keep the nasal area clean, and take measures to prevent infections.
