Are there any complications associated with rhinoplasty?
I am 23 years old this year, and I have always wanted to undergo rhinoplasty. I would like to ask if there are any complications or side effects associated with nose augmentation surgery.

In general, rhinoplasty (nasal augmentation) may involve potential complications, mainly including infection, bleeding and hematoma, aesthetic issues, breathing difficulties, and nerve damage.
If rhinoplasty is improperly performed or postoperative care is inadequate, wound infection may occur. This typically presents with symptoms such as swelling, pain, and pus discharge. Infection is a relatively serious complication following rhinoplasty, and timely medical treatment is necessary once it occurs. Bleeding may occur during or after surgery, and severe cases may require secondary surgery for hemostasis. Hematoma is also one of the common postoperative complications, presenting as nasal swelling and pain.
Improper implant placement or postoperative displacement may lead to a crooked nasal bridge, affecting aesthetic appearance. Rhinoplasty may also cause edema and congestion of the nasal cavity or nasal mucosa, thereby impairing respiratory function and causing breathing difficulties. Nerves in the nasal area may be damaged during surgery, leading to decreased nasal sensitivity or abnormal sensation.
To reduce the risk of complications associated with rhinoplasty, patients should choose reputable medical institutions and experienced surgeons, and strictly follow postoperative care instructions. Additionally, patients should maintain realistic expectations regarding surgical outcomes and avoid blindly pursuing unrealistic results.
