Is it normal to have bruising in the chest area after breast augmentation with implants?
Hello doctor, I recently underwent breast augmentation surgery with implants. After the surgery, I noticed bruising on my chest, which has made me a bit concerned. Is this situation normal?

In general, bruising after breast augmentation with implants is a relatively common occurrence.
Bruising after surgery is one of the common phenomena following breast implant surgery, usually caused by minor damage to surrounding tissues during the procedure. This bruising may gradually appear within a few days after surgery and slowly fade over the following weeks. The color of the bruise typically changes from dark purple to yellow before eventually disappearing. This is a normal healing process, indicating that the body is repairing itself.
Within the first 24 hours after surgery, cold compresses can be applied to promote vasoconstriction of the capillaries, reduce the severity of bruising, and help alleviate swelling more quickly. After 24 hours, warm compresses using a warm towel or hot water bag may be applied locally to accelerate skin metabolism and improve blood circulation, which can aid in wound healing and the resolution of bruising. During the recovery period, avoid excessive rubbing of the chest area, lifting arms overhead, carrying heavy objects, or engaging in strenuous activities, as these may interfere with wound healing.
