Superficial gastritis is generally not serious.

Superficial gastritis, medically also known as non-atrophic gastritis, is a common inflammation of the gastric mucosa that primarily affects the superficial layers of the stomach. This condition is usually caused by various factors, including Helicobacter pylori infection, long-term use of nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs such as aspirin, smoking, excessive alcohol consumption, and stress. Patients may experience discomfort or pain in the upper abdomen, nausea, vomiting, indigestion, and other symptoms, although many individuals may not exhibit obvious symptoms at all. Although these symptoms may impact a patient's quality of life to some extent, they are not life-threatening. The treatment of superficial gastritis mainly focuses on eliminating causative factors, protecting the gastric mucosa, and promoting its healing. Additionally, patients should maintain a balanced diet, keep the stomach warm, rest adequately, and avoid staying up late to facilitate recovery.

Although superficial gastritis is a common digestive system disease, its severity is relatively low. As long as patients seek timely medical care and follow medical advice regarding treatment and lifestyle adjustments, they usually achieve favorable therapeutic outcomes.
