In general, the normal pre-sleep blood glucose level should be close to the fasting glucose level, that is, 3.9~6.1 mmol/L. This is because, typically several hours after dinner, the body has digested most of the food, and the blood glucose level gradually returns to the baseline state. Due to individual differences and factors such as types and amounts of food consumed at dinner, pre-sleep blood glucose levels may vary.

The target pre-sleep blood glucose range for individuals with diabetes may vary depending on their specific condition and medical advice. For example, some diabetic patients may be advised to maintain blood glucose levels between 5.6~7.8 mmol/L before sleep to prevent nocturnal hypoglycemia. Particularly, elderly diabetic patients or those at risk of hypoglycemia should avoid excessively low pre-sleep glucose levels to reduce the risk of nocturnal hypoglycemia.

The normal pre-sleep blood glucose range varies from person to person and needs to be evaluated and adjusted according to the individual's specific condition. If there are any concerns or abnormalities, it is recommended to promptly consult a healthcare professional.
