How to Determine if a Woman Has a Cold Uterus
I feel cold in my hands and feet, have light menstrual flow, and often feel cold in my lower abdomen. I would like to ask, are these symptoms indicative of uterine coldness (gong han)? How can one determine whether it is uterine coldness or not?

To determine whether a woman has a cold uterus (gonghan), analysis can be made based on menstrual performance, physical sensations, complexion changes, and systemic symptoms.
Menstrual irregularity is one of the common symptoms of gonghan. This may manifest as early or delayed menstruation, reduced menstrual flow, occasional distending pain in the lower abdomen, and dark-colored blood clots in menstrual blood. Women with gonghan often feel cold, have a cold sensation in the lower abdomen, and are sensitive to temperature changes. They may feel cold even in warm seasons or environments.
In addition, women with gonghan often have poor complexion, which may appear sallow or pale, correlating with their frequent feelings of coldness. These women frequently experience coldness, distension, or pain in the lower abdomen. Even in warm environments, their hands and feet often feel cold. Digestive issues such as indigestion, abdominal distension, and diarrhea may also occur. In traditional Chinese medicine (TCM), treatment for gonghan typically involves warming and supplementing kidney yang and promoting blood circulation to remove blood stasis, such as through taking herbal decoctions, moxibustion, or cupping therapy.
It is recommended to seek medical consultation, where a professional physician can make a comprehensive assessment using TCM diagnostic methods (inspection, listening and smelling, inquiry, and palpation) combined with modern medical examinations such as gynecological exams and B-ultrasound, to determine whether the condition is gonghan and provide appropriate treatment recommendations.
