How long does an eyelash implant last?
I am 28 years old and have always been dissatisfied with my eyelashes for not being thick and long enough. I would like to know how long the results of eyelash transplantation can last.

In general, if eyelashes are attached using adhesive methods, they typically last from 1 to 3 months. However, if eyelashes are implanted using follicle transplantation techniques, the results can last up to 10–15 years. The exact duration depends on individual physical conditions, hair follicle health, implantation techniques, and post-operative care.
Adhesively attached false eyelashes tend to fall off during daily face washing or rubbing. Additionally, the growth cycles of artificial lashes and natural lashes differ, resulting in limited durability. In follicle transplantation, healthy hair follicles from the back of the head are extracted using microscopic surgical techniques and then transplanted onto the eyelids, allowing natural eyelash regrowth. Factors such as follicle survival rate, individual metabolic rate, hair growth cycle, and post-operative care all influence the duration of the results.
Individuals with faster metabolisms and shorter hair growth cycles may experience earlier shedding of transplanted eyelashes, thus shortening the duration. Healthier follicles are more likely to survive transplantation, resulting in longer-lasting eyelashes. Advanced transplantation techniques can improve follicle survival rates, thereby extending the duration of transplanted eyelashes.
However, please note that all surgical procedures carry risks. It is advisable to choose a reputable hospital for the procedure and to follow post-operative medical instructions, such as avoiding physical trauma, using non-irritating eye cleansers, and preventing cosmetic residue. These practices can help prolong the lifespan of transplanted eyelashes. Frequent eye rubbing or using waterproof mascara that is difficult to remove may damage the transplanted eyelashes and shorten their lifespan.
