Excessive vaginal discharge may be caused by ovulation, pregnancy, vulvovaginal candidiasis, trichomonas vaginitis, cervicitis, and other conditions.

Under physiological conditions, elevated estrogen levels during ovulation can increase the amount of vaginal discharge, making it thin and stretchy (like raw egg white). This is a normal phenomenon aimed at facilitating sperm passage and promoting conception.

During pregnancy, significant hormonal changes and pelvic congestion can also lead to increased vaginal discharge. As long as there is no foul odor and the color appears normal, it generally is not a cause for concern. Pathologically, vaginitis is a common cause.

When vulvovaginal candidiasis occurs, vaginal discharge increases and appears like curdled tofu, often accompanied by external genital itching. Trichomonas vaginitis causes a marked increase in vaginal discharge, which appears yellow-green, frothy, and may have a foul odor.

Cervicitis can also lead to increased vaginal discharge, sometimes appearing purulent, and may be accompanied by contact bleeding. Additionally, pelvic inflammatory disease can similarly cause increased vaginal discharge due to inflammatory stimulation.

When abnormal excessive vaginal discharge is noticed, timely medical consultation is recommended. Identifying the underlying cause through routine vaginal discharge tests, gynecological ultrasound, and other examinations can help guide targeted treatment.
