Is a complete blood count (CBC) the same as a blood glucose test?
Recently, I went for a medical check-up that included a complete blood count (CBC) and a blood glucose test. I would like to ask if the CBC and blood glucose test are the same thing?

Under normal circumstances, a complete blood count (CBC) and blood glucose testing are not the same.
CBC and blood glucose tests are two distinct medical examinations that assess different aspects of physiological status. A CBC primarily evaluates the general condition of blood and the quantity and quality of various cellular components, including red blood cells, white blood cells, and platelets. This test provides doctors with important information regarding a patient's overall health.
In contrast, blood glucose testing focuses on measuring the concentration of glucose in the blood, particularly fasting blood glucose and postprandial (after-meal) glucose levels. It is primarily used to assess an individual's glucose metabolism and serves as a key basis for diagnosing diabetes and prediabetic conditions, enabling early identification of high-risk individuals and timely interventions to prevent the onset of diabetes. It also helps diabetic patients adjust their diet, exercise, and medication plans.
During physical examinations, it is recommended to use both tests together to provide comprehensive health information for more accurate diagnosis and treatment by healthcare professionals.
