Will the nose become flatter year by year after Gore-Tex nasal augmentation?
I am 25 years old this year. I underwent a Gore-Tex rhinoplasty one year ago. Recently, I noticed that my nose doesn't seem as high and straight as it was right after the surgery. I would like to ask, will a Gore-Tex rhinoplasty result in a progressively lower nasal bridge over time?

Expanded materials themselves have a certain degree of compressibility. After implantation into the nose, with the passage of time and tissue ingrowth, some compression may occur, causing the nose to appear lower. However, this compression typically stabilizes within 6 to 12 months post-surgery and does not continue to make the nose progressively lower year after year. Additionally, factors such as surgical technique, individual healing differences, postoperative care, and lifestyle habits may also affect the final outcome of expanded polytetrafluoroethylene (ePTFE) rhinoplasty.
If the surgical procedure is performed correctly, the material is securely positioned, and proper postoperative care is provided, noticeable changes in nasal shape generally do not occur. However, if the material is improperly implanted during surgery or experiences external impact after surgery, displacement of the implant may occur, thereby affecting nasal height.
For individuals concerned about a gradual decline in the results of ePTFE rhinoplasty over time, it is recommended to schedule regular follow-up appointments with a plastic surgeon to ensure the health of the nasal area. If significant changes in nasal shape are noticed, timely medical consultation is advised, and revision surgery may be considered if necessary. Furthermore, in daily life, one should avoid strong impacts to the nose and maintain healthy lifestyle habits to help ensure the long-term stability of rhinoplasty results.
