In general, molluscum contagiosum is not easily transmitted through casual contact.

Molluscum contagiosum is a contagious skin disease caused by infection with the molluscum contagiosum virus. It is characterized by small, soft, round or oval papules on the skin, usually flesh-colored or slightly yellowish, with possible central indentation. The disease mainly spreads through direct contact, indirect contact, and sexual contact. The virus can only enter the cells and cause infection when the skin comes into direct or indirect contact with the molluscum lesions containing the virus, and there are minor skin injuries at the contact site.

In addition, the transmissibility of molluscum contagiosum is also influenced by individual immunity. People with weakened immune systems, such as children, elderly individuals, and those suffering from chronic diseases, are more susceptible to viral infection. In contrast, individuals with stronger immune systems may resist viral invasion and may not become infected.

It is recommended to maintain good personal hygiene habits, avoid direct contact with infected individuals, refrain from sharing personal items, and pay special attention to using personal items cautiously in public places, which can help prevent the spread of molluscum contagiosum.
