Generally, reactions after laser hair removal mainly include mild skin pricking and hypersensitivity, skin redness and swelling, blisters or scabs, pigmentation, and allergic reactions.

Laser hair removal may cause skin damage, resulting in pain or a pricking sensation; some individuals may also experience a burning feeling. This sensation usually subsides within 24 hours. It is also reported that about 30% of people may feel skin sensitivity or pricking after laser hair removal. During the procedure, due to the stimulation of laser energy on the skin, slight redness and swelling may occur at the treatment site. This reaction typically resolves spontaneously within several hours to days. If there is significant pain, cold compresses can be used for relief. In rare cases, if the laser energy is set too high or the irradiation time is too long, skin tissue damage may occur, leading to blisters or scabs. This situation requires timely medical attention to prevent infection and scar formation.

After laser hair removal, skin sensitivity to ultraviolet light increases. Without proper sun protection measures, pigmentation may develop, causing the skin to darken or develop spots. This pigmentation is usually temporary, although in rare cases it can be permanent. Laser hair removal can stimulate the skin, and individuals with sensitive skin may develop localized rashes or red patches, accompanied by varying degrees of itching. A few individuals may experience more severe allergic reactions, including persistent skin itching, pain, or fever, which require immediate medical attention.

To reduce these reactions, doctors usually recommend applying cold compresses, using moisturizers or specific soothing products, and avoiding direct sun exposure and irritating skincare products. If severe discomfort or symptoms that do not improve occur, medical advice should be sought promptly.
