How is herpes caused?
Recently, some small blisters have appeared on my body, and a friend mentioned it might be herpes. I would like to ask, what causes herpes?

Herpes is a common skin disease primarily caused by two types of viruses: herpes simplex virus type 1 (HSV-1) and herpes simplex virus type 2 (HSV-2).
The herpes virus spreads through direct contact, such as kissing, sexual activity, or sharing personal items. Once infected, the virus remains dormant in nerve cells. When the body's immunity decreases, such as during stress, fatigue, illness, or exposure to ultraviolet light, the virus may reactivate, causing herpes outbreaks again. The typical symptoms of herpes are clusters of small blisters on the skin, accompanied by pain, itching, and a burning sensation.
Genetic factors may also contribute to increased susceptibility to herpes, and certain autoimmune diseases may be associated with the occurrence of herpes. Abnormalities in the immune system or an immunosuppressive state may lead to the reactivation of the virus or other pathogenic microorganisms, thereby triggering herpes. Physical injuries such as burns and frostbite, as well as skin infections caused by bacteria like Staphylococcus aureus, may also lead to the development of herpes.
If herpes symptoms appear, it is recommended to seek medical attention promptly and follow the guidance of a qualified physician for treatment.
