Does laser treatment for removing red blood vessels cause rebound effects?
I am 23 years old this year, and I have some visible facial red veins (telangiectasia). I would like to remove them and want to know whether the red veins will reappear after laser treatment.
In general, laser treatment for removing red threads (telangiectasia) may have a risk of recurrence, but the probability and extent of recurrence are related to multiple factors. Laser therapy targets abnormal, dilated capillaries beneath the skin using specific wavelengths of laser energy, causing them to coagulate and close, thus achieving the effect of reducing redness.
After laser treatment, the skin's sensitivity to ultraviolet (UV) light increases. Without proper sun protection, UV exposure may cause the capillaries to dilate again, leading to a recurrence of redness. The use of skincare products containing irritating ingredients such as alcohol, fragrances, or alpha hydroxy acids (AHAs) after treatment may irritate the skin and cause redness to return. Over-cleansing the skin, such as frequently using scrubs or exfoliating products, can damage the skin's natural protective barrier, making it more sensitive and increasing the risk of red thread recurrence.
Each individual's skin condition, recovery capacity, and lifestyle habits vary. Some people may experience a higher likelihood of recurrence after laser treatment due to naturally sensitive skin or other contributing factors. To reduce the risk of recurrence, patients should keep the skin moisturized, avoid excessive cleansing, practice sun protection, and attend regular follow-up appointments after treatment. Prior to undergoing laser therapy, it is recommended to consult thoroughly with a qualified physician to understand one's specific condition and establish realistic expectations and a post-treatment management plan.
